The Winchester M1895 was a go-to favorite of Teddy Roosevelt during his 1909 safari to East Africa. He called it his medicine gun for lions. Granted, his were chambered in .405 for the larger African game, but it was not the cartridge he was praising, it was the rifle. The innovative (for its time) box cartridge allows for the use of pointed ammunition instead of the rounded bullet-style required by tube magazines.
This classic lever-action rifle is chambered in .30 Government (also sometimes called .30 Army, .30US or .30-40 Krag) and features a Lyman Receiver Sight. It is in excellent condition and a must-have gun for any Winny collector.
